Wallace Ray "Wally" Robinson

Wallace Ray “Wally” Robinson, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away September 14, 2017 at Kindred Health and Rehab in Greenwood. Wally was born May 6, 1936 in Batesville, Indiana to the late Herb and Sally (Dupps) Robinson. He graduated from Batesville High School where he served as his class president all four years. A superior high school athlete, Wally achieved 10 letters in football, basketball, baseball, and softball.

After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps; he served in Japan and Okinawa. Wally especially enjoyed his role as a district manager for Kroger, a position which he held for 43 years. He was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church and the American Legion. In his spare time, Wally enjoyed golfing, playing cards, fishing, reading, hunting, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Along with his parents, Wally was also preceded in death by his brother, Gary Robinson and his sister, Gayle Kellerman.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn M. (Telles) Robinson; daughter, Barbara A. (John) Reed of Indianapolis; two sons, Jeff R. (Kami) Robinson of Martinsville and Michael J. (Carol) Robinson of Plainfield; his brothers, Gene (Carol) Robinson of Lawrenceburg, Indiana and Jerry Robinson of California; half-brother, David Robinson; two sisters, Judy Laudick of Batesville, Indiana, and Connie Knutson of Portland, Oregon; seven grandsons, Benjamin, Jake, Justin, Brandon, Brett, Drew, and Devin; and 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017 in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St., Indianapolis where afternoon prayers will begin at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church.
