Obituary for Tammy Lynn Bird

Tammy Lynn Bird, 56, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home May 30, 2017. Tammy was born March 11, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri.

She graduated from Northwest High School and was united in marriage to her husband, Zack Bird, 39 years ago. Tammy loved children and helping others. She worked in childcare at the Southport United Methodist Church for a number of years. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, but above all, was strongly devoted to her family. Tammy will be fondly remembered by her loved ones and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Faye (Blair) Ferguson.

Survivors include her husband, Zack Bird; children, Zachary (Jodi) Bird, John Bird, and Jody (Stephen) Shimonek; grandson, Gage Steinbrook; sisters, Melissa (Doug) Bondy and Laura Ferguson; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Tammy Lynn Bird on Sunday, June 4, 2017, 2 – 5 p.m., in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made by visiting; the funds collected will be donated to families in need suffering from the effects of cancer.
