Obituary for Robert A. McKay

Robert “Bob” A. McKay, 85, Indianapolis, ended his earthly journey on May 18, 2017. He was born to the late Arthur and Katherine McKay on August 9, 1931 in Indianapolis. Bob graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1949 and obtained a B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1953. He was stationed at Ft. Bragg (1953-1955), and retired from Navel Avionics in 1989. Bob was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Church (1961-1993) and sang bass in the choir.

He married the late Zita (Kriese) McKay in 1954 and had four kids, Michael (Geri) McKay, Elaine (Preston) Hobbie, Pete McKay, Kellie (Rick) Nichols (deceased). He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and a patient grandpa. He is preceded in death by his brother, William (Bill) McKay (Florida).

Visitation will be held at the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis on Thursday, May 25, 2017, 4:00-8:00 p.m. A celebration of life Mass will be held on Friday, May 26, 11:00 a.m., at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6350 S.
